Senior Staff Engineer

Sayari is looking for a Staff Software Engineer with proven experience in platform architecture to lead ongoing application development. Position Description:

Our application is built using node, Typescript, React, Redux and RxJS, all backed by an API running on a node server written in typescript. Our application is backed by an API that is built on Postgres, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, and Memgraph, with multiple services managed by Kubernetes. In this role you will build, test, and deploy features across this stack to allow users to explore a large knowledge graph sourced from hundreds of millions of structured and unstructured records from over 150 countries and 30 languages. Along the way, you'll have the chance to contribute to our growing library of open source work, such as our WebGL-powered network visualization library Trellis: sayari-analytics.github.io/trellis.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Drive key analysis of the existing products
• Document all the existing architectures
• Drive the creation and management of architectural governance
• Lead for technical evaluation of any partner or acquisitions
• Performance and stability troubleshooter for existing products for stability, etc.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for product enhancements
• Help drive accuracy in team estimation and story pointing
• Key resource for determining architectural requirements for enhancements and sustaining efforts

Skills & Experience:

Need to haves:

• 10+ years of industry experience in software development, preferably building web applications
• Hands-on technical leadership and people management experience, and proven ability to coach others resulting in a significant improvement of their capabilities
• The ability to evaluate end-to-end designs for strengths and weaknesses (complexity, quality, scalability, latency and performance)
• Deep understanding and proficiency with:
  • SQL and NoSQL databases, such as Postgres, Cassandra, or Memgraph
  • Backend web development and architecting REST APIs
  • Cloud environment such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS
  • Typescript and kubernetes is a plus
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada

Nice to haves:

• Interest in the full stack of a modern web application, including frontend, backend, databases, and infrastructure
• Comfortable working in a cloud environment such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Experience with React, Redux, or similar front end frameworks
• Passion for open-source development
