Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sentinel is seeking to add Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer in support of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent Sentinel program.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. This role will be located in Roy, Utah and may offer a competitive relocation package.

A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer can get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are protected against peacetime and wartime threats at all times. A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided the opportunity to:

  • Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
  • Use model-based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORs, Cameo, TeamCenter, GIT, JAZZ, NX, Capitol

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or software engineering discipline
  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of the Sentinel program

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
