Veterinary Student Externship

Sploot Veterinary Care is introducing a brand-new approach to Urgent & Primary Care for pets, and we’re seeking a 3rd- or 4th-year Veterinary Student to join our Sploot CAMP (Coaching and Mentorship Program) externship in Denver, CO. About Sploot Veterinary Care

Externship Overview & Responsibilities 

• Individualized Program: Participate in a flexible 2–8 week externship designed to refine your problem-solving, technical, and communication skills.
• Hands-On Learning: Work closely with the veterinary team on diagnostic and treatment plans, including surgical procedures and fear-free techniques.
• Patient Care Exposure: Gain real-world experience in urgent/emergency cases, sick patient workups, routine medical appointments, dentals, and soft-tissue surgeries.
• Mentorship & Feedback: Benefit from one-on-one mentorship and weekly feedback sessions to guide your professional development.
• Collaborative Environment: Engage in daily nurse duties, learn about diverse veterinary roles, and discover how technology supports better medicine and client education.

Qualifications

• 3rd- or 4th-Year DVM Student: Currently enrolled in an accredited DVM program.

Authorization to Work in the U.S.

• Liability Insurance: Must carry professional liability insurance (e.g., AVMA PLIT, which is free for student members).
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with teammates and pet parents.
• Passion & Commitment: Dedication to veterinary care and continuous improvement.
