Itinerant Dance Teacher, Arts Department during the 2023-2024 school year. It requires a Physical Education credintial and English Learner Authorization. This is a pool position and not for a specific site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In the domain of access and equity, the Middle and High School Dance Teacher will be expected to:

Collaborate with school leadership to remove systemic barriers and design an equitable schedule for each and every students to access arts programming at each site, each year;

Review IEPs and available student data to plan and design curriculum that centers students' strengths, abilities, interests, and opportunities for individual growth, creativity, and empathy/community-building;

Clearly communicate instructional objectives with classroom teachers, students, and families on a regular basis;

Develop a curriculum and demonstrate pedagogical practices that honor and center multi-ability, multiracial, multicultural, and multilingual artists, artistic processes, projects, and exemplar artworks.
In the domain of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, the Middle and High School Dance Teacher will be expected to:

Design and deliver an inclusive and antiracist, standards-based, comprehensive and sequential dance curriculum;

Demonstrate student-centered pedagogy such as discovery-based learning, limited teacher talk, open-ended questioning and facilitation of discussion and reflection to develop critical thinking and communication skills;

Collaborate with other teachers and support staff, where possible, to support cross-content alignment and the integration of dance into the classroom learning to ensure all students receive standards-based dance instruction in foundational skills as well as fully integrated lessons;
In the domain of professionalism, professional growth and development, the Middle and High School Dance Teacher will be an active member of school site collaborations as well as central office professional learning communities that support professional growth within a culture of humility, dignity, transparency, collaboration and support. The specific responsibilities in this domain are:

Practice effective, positive, respectful and proactive communication with classroom teachers, support staff, students' parents/guardians, and administrators which includes phone calls, emails, Google Classroom/Synergy chat/messaging, and meetings;

Reflect upon practice, analyzing to what degree there was opportunity for all students to learn, evidence of that learning or lack of learning; elements of the lesson that worked and why they worked; elements of the lesson that did not work and why; missed opportunities; and plans for improvement;

Attend site, central/district and outside professional learning experiences that include developing diverse, antiracist curriculum/lessons, analysis of lessons, tasks, student work, student data; about curriculum instruction and the implications of research findings.
This position may require sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, lifting and pulling/pushing a cart of materials.
