SUMMARY

Responsible for maintenance and general housekeeping duties for Goodwill locations as assigned. Works under the direction of the Senior Director, Retail Operations, Store Manager and/or Director of Safety and Facilities, if directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Completes work order requests for maintenance and repair in a timely manner, as requested.

Assists with setup, breakdown and maintenance of fundraising events, i.e., Fantasy of Lights.

Identifies Safety Issues and reports them promptly to the Store Manager

Repair and/or arrange for repairs of structure, utility systems and equipment at all facilities, as required.

Notify appropriate landlord or his/her contact of any maintenance and repairs needed which are the responsibilities of the landlord.

Develop and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule. 

Complete work order requests for maintenance, repair or renovation in a timely manner. 

Perform light carpentry and construction for the Goodwill stores and other satellite locations. 

Meet with department supervisors, as necessary, to ensure departmental maintenance and repair needs are met in the most cost-effective manner (i.e. procurement of outside contractors or actual completion of assigned project).

Cleans inside and outside of store windows.

Cleans restroom and staff lounge facilities. Replaces papers products and supplies, as necessary.

Maintain building and grounds in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Remove snow/ice from sidewalks at main office and at other locations as necessary to ensure safe environments.

May be assigned special projects on an as needed basis.

Other duties may be assigned, as required or directed.

Requirements

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

On occasion, may be required to work weekend, evening and holiday hours typical of the retail industry. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Protective eyewear must be worn at all times while preparing cleaning solution for floor cleaning machine and while dispensing fluid into the machine. Protective gloves (cloth/leather) and eyewear must be worn at all times while using push stick to propel material into trash compactor.
