Purpose:
The Senior Lead Software Development Engineer’s main objective is to provide accurate expert advice on how the latest software development technologies can be used in the automation products supported by various infrastructure teams in the Cloud Foundation Services division.
The incumbent will provide, implement and support innovative solutions for the automation of the infrastructure. This scope will encompass how to build an end-to-end automation suite, building and using automation frameworks, various applicable development techniques, lifecycle management of the automation artefacts, testing techniques and approaches, error handling and recovery within the automation and troubleshooting techniques and tools for the automation of the infrastructure underpinning the highly demanding operational domain.
The Senior Lead may be required in the role of a Project and/or Product Manager for the more complex technical projects/products. He/she will be technically responsible for the leadership role he/she performs for one or more products owned by the Infrastructure Automation team which also will encompass interfacing with the various stakeholders across the Amadeus organization.
Major Responsibilities:
Analyze and validate end user requirements, for the purpose of developing and/or customizing automation tools required to support Amadeus infrastructure services.
Deliver the features corresponding to the requirements following the SAFe methodology,
Provide technical leadership in the architecture, design and implementation of automation solutions.
Ensure that any software that is implemented uses state-of-the-art methodologies and meets Amadeus quality standards.
Mentor the automation engineers in the infrastructure teams in the various aspects of the software development discipline.
Constantly keep abreast of the latest technologies available on the market and evaluate the potential for including these technologies in the solutions provided by the team.
Create and track project and/or product plans to ensure new releases are implemented in time.
Perform the role of, or work with Project and Product Mangers to ensure major milestones are met and new releases are implemented in time.
Ensure new solutions are accurately documented and when required, present the architecture and business case for said solutions to senior Amadeus management and support the decision-making process.
When incidents or problems occur, help the infrastructure/automation teams diagnose and recover from the service disruptions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master would be an advantage.
Skills and experience:
10+ years of proven experience in the software development, leading projects and initiatives
Advanced programming experience with strong scripting skills (Python, Go, Ansible, shell among others) is a must
Strong understanding of code algorithm and able to debug code in multiple languages (Java, C++, groovy among others)
Proven experience in the deployment of CI/CD pipelines
Advanced understanding of the Amadeus standard tooling including Jenkins, ArgoCD, Kubernetes/ACS, Azure, Software Workbench, Git/BitBucket, Artifactory
Strong understanding in Network
Excellent understanding of many standard web and application server products such as Nginx, HAProxy and WSGI servers
Excellent understanding of many standard markup languages and web service protocols such as XML, XSL, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP
Experience in designing REST API
