KBR is seeking a Sr. Technical Professional - Test Engineering to support our RECO/DTRA contract for KBR’s Science and Space division.  This individual will provide and apply technical knowledge in installing, maintaining, calibrating, and operating instrumentation systems and equipment for CBRNE testing, projects, and sites at Kirtland AFB, WSMR, Dugway, NNSS, and other US testing grounds.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Exercise cross-disciplinary skills for the data acquisition system (DAS), timing & firing (T&F), and information technology (IT) groups. Field, troubleshoot, and execute instrumentation objectives for high-explosive tests. Configure test beds and equipment for data acquisition and recording systems. May lead high explosive test beds and function as an instrumentation operator. Perform as primary or secondary point of contact for lead positions on test support.

Understand overall functionality of instrumentation sensors, data acquisition systems and component testing. Thorough knowledge of digital and analog circuits (logic schemes, Wheatstone bridges, shunting, imbalances), signal conditioners and amplifiers (DSP, sampling methods and frequency), cabling characteristics (Ohms law, impedance, ground lops), termination methods, pc-based recording, use of calibration and measurement equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, pressure calibrators), GPS, timing, and synchronization methods (time servers for NTP, PTP, IRIG, 1PPS), sequencing countdowns, and control protocols (UART,RS232/422/485, GPIB).

Execute network functions for IP addressing and subnetting, command line configurations, microwave backhauls, cable connectors (BNC, RJ45), and routing layouts. Support fiber optic installation and terminations (polishing), use media converters (such as Ethernet-to-RS232), install and operate IP camera systems, design and deploy 802.11 wireless infrastructure (wireless link budgets, wireless point-to-point and point-to-multi point links), and maintain VoIP systems, Photovoltaic systems, and NMEA0183 weather stations.

Perform network design, layout, and administration for test sites, providing prominent technical installation and troubleshooting for network infrastructure and servers. Setup and verification of multiple layer 3 switches with management of VLANS and simple routing. Operating System support with OSX, Windows, and Linux workstations and servers.

Maintain highly available hypervisor and redundant storage hyperconverged and clustered system. Implement and test traditional RAID and software defined storage servers. Control and perform data management and handling of multiple large terabyte sized data sets.

Develop software with .NET technologies in order to record data and display real-time visualization with multiple plots and signal sources. Write small scale software utilities and tools for test support and projects. Coordinate and direct development and application of software for successful integration with hardware components and overall system operations. Investigate, debug, and communicate with external manufacturer support teams to identity software feature and capability defects.

Operate and support photoionization detectors, gas chromatograph equipment, mobile mass spectrometer, particle sizers, radiological testing and nuclear technology equipment, and associated calibration procedures, processes, and training.

Build and design photovoltaic power systems and other renewable technologies.

Integrate and test prototype small unmanned vehicles with automated waypoint navigation and onboard sensor packages. Provide systems engineering support and contribute to modular design upgrades and capabilities.

Run, capture, and diagnose signal detection and characterization with software defined radios and spectrum analyzers for different RF communication modulations schemes involving I/Q data. Investigate and explore understanding of unintended emissions of systems and utilize digital signal processing and electromagnetic concepts to utilize fast Fourier transform tools; experiment with antenna research and design.

Recommend, design, develop, and execute upgrade plans for infrastructure equipment to improve acquisition and instrumentation systems. Exercise, review, and practice technical writing to generate technical reports, presentations, and document process and procedures.
