Job Purpose

We are currently seeking a Field Equipment Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of aerial and material handling equipment such as Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts and Telehandlers at a long-term customer site. This is a full-time camp-based position for a mechanically inclined professional who thrives working independently, takes pride in quality workmanship, and enjoys solving problems in a remote environment.

Schedule

  • 7 Days On / 7 Days Off rotation
  • Tuesday to Tuesday schedule: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM shifts
  • 84 hours per rotation
  • Overtime paid after 12 hours per day
  • $250 travel allowance per rotation

Camp Accommodations

While on shift rotation, employees will stay in a fully serviced camp environment that includes:

  • Accommodations provided
  • Meals included
  • Gym and recreational facilities

 

What you will do...

  • Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at long term customer job sites
  • Oversee and conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
  • Diagnose and repair heavy equipment as required to ensure proper operating condition at the job site
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems
  • Recondition and replace assorted parts to return equipment to a safely functioning state
  • Educating customers on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns
  • Analyze problem areas for any significant wear or tear and address to ensure proper usage of the equipment until your next scheduled visit  
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines posted at active jobsite where repairs and maintenance are completed
  • Maintain work area on jobsite in a clean and organized manner
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
  • Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols
  • Build positive relationships with customers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Skills

  • Successful candidates must:

    • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
    • Successfully complete required background screening.
    • Meet customer site access requirements.
    • Maintain a clean-shaven appearance where required for proper PPE fit and site safety compliance.
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can think outside the box, communicate effectively with customers, and take ownership of equipment reliability and service delivery on site.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3rd Year Apprentice in a Heavy Equipment Technician, Off-Road Equipment Technician, or related trade, or equivalent mechanical experience.
  • Ability to work independently and be the primary mechanic on site.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
