Requirements:

• Graduate from a Medical Dosimetry Program of at least 12 months with a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with SRS/SRT, HDR brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, and LDR brachytherapy treatment planning.
• Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.

 

 

Summary:CICONIX is seeking a Medical Dosimetrist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs team in Pittsburgh, PA..About the Role:

• Design treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique in accordance with the VA Radiation Oncologist prescription to a defined tumor volume.
• Perform, in conjunction with the Contractor’s Medical Physicist, treatment planning for SRS/SRT, HDR brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, and LDR brachytherapy.
• Be present during patient treatment for HDR brachytherapy.
• Provide backup coverage during volume study procedures for LDR brachytherapy.
• Assist with treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices, including computer tomography and MRI, when indicated, for radiation therapy treatment planning.
• Consider dose-limiting structures in the design of treatment plans and document dose in accordance with VA Radiation Oncologist prescription.
• Assist in planning and oversee fabrication of compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices.
• Assist in the planning, oversee, and supervise production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices.
• Assist radiation therapy staff in the implementation of the treatment plan including the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangements, and any treatment variable associated with treatment planning implementation.
• Perform calculation methods for the delivery of prescribed dose, and subsequent documentation in patient files, and verification of the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
• Provide dosimetry and technical support to Contractor’s Medical Physicist, in radiation protection, qualitative and quantitative machine calibration, and quality assurance of the radiation therapy equipment. Assist in the application of specific methods of dosimetry, including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurements as directed by the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.
• Process view alerts in a timely manner and maintain accurate clinical documentation in VA systems.
• Comply with all VA policies regarding patient privacy, information security, and confidentiality of medical records.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Graduate from a Medical Dosimetry Program of at least 12 months with a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
• Licensure & Certifications (Current & Unrestricted): 
  • Board certified or eligible dosimetrist per the American Board of Radiology.
  • Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
• Experience: 
  • Experience with SRS/SRT, HDR brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, and LDR brachytherapy treatment planning. 
• Security & Background Check: 
  • U.S. Citizenship and a successful background investigation are required. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. 
• Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements.
