Position Summary

The FinOps Sales Engineer lives and works in the intersection between sales and engineering. The ideal candidate must be able to articulate technology and product positioning at the executive, business and technical levels. Sales Engineers are the primary technical support for the sales force and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. They are there to ensure success with all Harness customers and strategize with their sales counterparts to steer customers to a commercial relationship.

Key Responsibilities

  • World class presentation skills in delivering presentations/demos of our platform
  • Proactively evangelize the benefits and capabilities of the Harness FinOps certified CCM platform
  • Ability to tie business problems and finance scenarios to technical solutions
  • Capable of understanding and articulating technology value propositions
  • Drive complex technical engagements with customers to prove the value of Harness solutions 

About You

  • You will be responsible for delivering a great product demonstration which tells a story of how our software provides value to our customer
  • Experience as a Pre-Sales Engineer, supporting SaaS and/or software sales in the DevOps or Cost Optimization market
  • Hands-on experience of viewing, reviewing, optimizing costs with the major public cloud providers AWS, Azure, GCP 
  • Appreciation of containerization with regards to technologies like Kubernetes and ECS and how to optimize them
  • You will be responsible for representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • You will remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes and developments on our technologies
  • You have either actively developed software, have a prior background as a developer, or worked with developers in a DevOps role and have an appreciation of the concept of IaCM such as Terraform
  • You are able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs 
  • You are able to convey customer requirements to Engineering teams 
  • You are able to travel throughout a sales territory with minimal restrictions and occasionally on short notice
  • Candidates with any industry certifications such as those from the FinOps.org (Professional, Practitioner, Engineer, Container) will be looked on more favorably

  • Remote role with a strong preference for candidates located in Boston, MA or New York

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $185,000.00 annually. Salary is determined by a combination of factors including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  The compensation package for this position also includes a commission/variable component, which is based on performance, plus
