Job description  

As a Senior C++ Engineer, you will take a key part in creating innovative virtual reality experiences, with the Varjo Reality Cloud being a pioneer solution providing a VR and MR enabled shared workspace and cloud streaming solution for immersive 3d content, used by collaborators all around the world. With a talented team of varied backgrounds and experiences, we push what is possible in quality and responsiveness of cloud-delivered VR solutions to our various business partners across many fields, such as automotive, architecture and industrial design. Your background in creating, understanding, and improving software architecture will help to drive the change for a better, more efficient, and coherent development landscape. As a mentor, your technical expertise and insight will benefit other members of the team, both through one-on-one sessions, trainings, and providing code and architecture reviews and opinions. 

 

What you will be doing 

• Designing, developing and maintaining code written in C++.  
• Investigating, prototyping and leading implementation of the coolest, bleeding-edge VR and mixed-reality devices and solutions. 
• Assessing, refactoring and simplifying existing complex solutions.
• Shaping and improving the network of connections between modules and libraries.
• Providing expertise, knowledge sharing and personal mentoring to the senior members of the team. 

 

Our expectations 

 

• Strong C++ backbone, confirmed by years of experience on senior and expert positions 
• Proven problem-solving skills and a passion for learning new things 
• Curiosity and willingness to dive into existing solutions, with the aim of improving them. 
• Easy-going attitude and will to work with designers, testers, and product managers 
• Experience with following fields is a plus: 
• Cloud solutions and services, hardware instancing (AWS and similar). 
• Streaming video and audio from and to the user, compression algorithms, optimizing for throughput and latency. Creating and optimizing the streaming architecture. 
• VR/MR/XR, both in software and hardware. 
• Graphics APIs (DirectX, Vulkan). 
• Game engines (UE5, Unity) and/or existing professional VR software (Autodesk VREd etc.).
