Job Description Summary:

OVERVIEW OF ROLE (Medians and Bikeways)
Under limited supervision, the Transportation Maintenance Lead Technician coordinates and leads maintenance and operation tasks in the transportation corridors and streets. This includes daily coordination of activities and performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the areas of multi-use paths, and medians. Responsible for ensuring job sites are safe and in compliance with Colorado state laws and City expectations.

MEDIANS AND BIKEWAYS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                

  • Identifies hazards and additional maintenance needs in medians and bikeways to maintain the health of various types of turf, shrubs, and trees in assigned areas, and clearly explain these needs to lead staff or supervisors.
  • Performs mowing, trimming, vegetation and debris removal along transportation corridors, multi-use paths, and in median and pocket park areas.
  • Performs lead worker responsibilities and provides oversight, including task assignment and work instruction, for multiple work teams in the field.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for and interacts directly with the public at work sites, including may interact with members of the public in the field to provide information and customer service. Provides input into responses to inquiries from the public and internal departments and requestors.
  • Regularly manages customer service interactions, including correspondence in CRM system, and in person and over the phone customer interactions.
  • Manages Asset management data and oversees asset management entries by field crews
  • Assist with developing recuing maintenance programming.
  • Perform lead worker responsibilities, directing work of others, providing feedback and direction.
  • Maintains and updates asset management software.
  • Improves habitat quality and overall site appearance including proper disposal of cut plant materials, trash and debris cleanup, sweeping, etc.
  • Uses tools and equipment in the performance of maintenance tasks and may perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
  • Assigns Customer requests to staff and ensures completion.
  • Performs snow and ice control operations with various equipment. Provides Snow Operations Dispatching. Responds to 100% of snow shifts when called from October through April.
  • Performs rotating standby duties as required, working during irregular hours, weekends, evenings, holidays, and emergencies.
  • Promotes a safety culture and ensures others do so in order to promote a safe work environment and prevent injuries and illnesses.
  • Enforces and adheres by organizational policies, rules and regulations related to staff using city vehicles, equipment, and public works facilities.
  • Ensures safe public spaces while completing work tasks and raises safety concerns to appropriate supervisors or contacts.
  • Trains and leads temporary staff in safe operation of all equipment and vehicles.
  • Identifies addresses or elevates any health and safety risks within the public works facilities.
  • Facilitates communication with co-workers and supervisors. by communicating important information from supervisors and other City officials to co-workers. Shares information and receives feedback, listens to and respects input, participates in workgroup conversations, and directly deals with issues that arise.
  • Works with Project Managers on project specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
