Summary of duties: Research, design and implement new theoretical and econometric / machine learning models related to portfolio risk, for use in all major asset classes across internal and external clients. Perform empirical research and develop statistical models across asset classes such as equity, fixed income, alternative assets, etc. Present ideas and results to experts, practitioners, and academic advisors, and engaging with both internal and external clients. Guide models through the validation, implementation, and deployment process. Collaborate on papers for publication, presenting original research at industry conferences, and speaking with institutional clients about relevant research. Work with portfolio management teams on bespoke projects supporting their investment processes.

Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience with: using object-oriented programming principles in Python; utilizing machine learning libraries, including pytorch and sklearn; working with financial mathematics, including derivatives pricing and stochastic processes, to design new portfolio risk and return models and methodologies; working with empirical finance, including asset pricing, factor models, and volatility modeling; applying econometric principles, including hypothesis testing and time-series forecasting to design and empirically test new portfolio risk and return models; and applying financial machine learning principles, including tree-based methods and deep learning to design and empirically test new portfolio risk and return models. Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, internship, or teaching.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $157,500 - $171,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
