The Registered Nurse is a member of the Clinical Team and serves as a liaison between physicians, health care professionals, employees, residents, families, responsible parties, and responsible agencies ensuring Rose Hill Center Residents’ health care needs are met.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Process medication and other orders from physicians and ensure timely follow up and accurate documentation in EMR and EMAR.
- Review lab results, medical reports and facilitate timely follow up and accurate documentation. Act as primary contact with pharmacy, lab, physicians, and other medical professionals.
- Communicates medical needs and/or follow up with families, guardians, and responsible agencies.
- Maintains medication administration training program/curriculum and provides ongoing education to employees on all shifts, ensuring resident medication is passed in accordance with generally accepted nursing standards.
- Performs routine audits of medication carts and other storage areas and provides ongoing education to employees on all shifts.
- Collaborates with leadership team members supervising employees providing direct care as needed to ensure all resident care needs are met.
- Gives injections (periodic and prescribed), collect blood and urine samples, monitors weights, and assess blood pressures, and general health of residents to direct care and treatment.
- Provides treatment and attends to medical and psychiatric needs of residents within scope of practice and completes timely and accurate follow up and documentation with medical record.
- Assist leadership in policies and procedures development and maintains policy manual to ensure Rose Hill Center’s compliance with Joint Commission standards in all areas falling within nursing scope of practice.
- Assist leadership in policies and procedures development and maintains policy manual to ensure Rose Hill Center’s compliance with Adult Foster Care regulations in all areas falling within nursing scope of practice.
- Serves as Rose Hill Center’s Infection Control Officer, maintains infection control policy and procedures, assists in setting annual objectives, measures, and other duties as outlined in Infection Control job description.
- Participates in on call rotation offering support and health care direction to employees after hours on a rotating schedule.
- Serves actively as member of Performance Improvement Committee and Safety Committee and completes process and safety improvement projects as assigned.
- Assists leadership in identifying and implementing changes to nursing best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree with valid Michigan Registered Nurse License.
- 5 years’ experience and preference of experience in psychiatric / behavioral health in a residential setting.
- Ability to communicate (oral & written) effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the residents.
- Capable of handling crisis and emergency situations.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Competencies:
- Demonstrates ability to contribute to individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessment.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage the medical issues of the individualized treatment plan.
- Demonstrates good understanding of the therapeutic resources available in the Rose Hill program and in the community.
