Account Specialist Internship Summer 2024

With the account specialist internship, you will work with a mentor to learn what account specialists do and how they play a vital role in the company’s success, as well as how accounts are handled. What You’ll Do

An account specialist intern builds relationships with customers and account managers/agents and ensures an excellent service experience that drives customer satisfaction and retention of business within assigned accounts/region. The intern will learn and apply basic underwriting guidelines within authority levels for new and/or renewal business and may occasionally visit customers or account managers.

Our Commercial Lines Account Specialist internship offers opportunities to:

• Build relationships with and provide outstanding service to designated producer(s), customers, and/or agents within the territory.
• Assists sales producer or agent in maximizing selling time by servicing existing book, assisting with cross-selling activities to meet account completion goals, or working with placement agency to insure risks outside of Sentry’s programs.
• Primary contact and owner of service-related items, such as incoming customer calls, emails, and faxes regarding policy or coverage service needs, changes, questions, and problems.
• Monitors and processes requests to ensure completion, including quotes, renewals, policy changes, urgent recommendations, billing, audit, and other service items.
• Learns and applies product and procedural knowledge of commercial lines insurance coverages. Reviews and explains coverages to customers.
• Liaison between sales producer, underwriting, other internal departments, and/or customers or agents to gather underwriting requirements and customer documents/signatures. Monitors status of outstanding quotes, renewals, and policy changes.
• May perform work on special project to enhance department performance.

What it Takes

To be considered for this position, the following criteria is necessary:

• Pursuing an undergraduate or associate degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Communication, or a related field.
• Obtain a minimum in-major GPA of 3.00.
• Graduating in Fall of 2024 or Spring of 2025 preferred.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Solid technical skills and ability to quickly learn various applications.
• Ability to analyze conflicts, determine solutions, and communicate effectively.
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience.
