Articulate is the leading SaaS provider of online training solutions for the new world of work. As the Staff Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our platform’s future state. You’ll lead projects of significant scope and complexity and serve as a leader within the Product Design group, demonstrating what excellent execution, collaboration, and communication look like. You’ll join a collaborative team focused on a core product experience, owning design throughout the product development lifecycle. Day-to-day, you’ll be leveraging best practices in product design to empower the team and deliver business value, including Design Sprints, rapid prototyping, collaborating on research, defining design specifications, participating in design reviews, and designing effective, efficient, and beautiful solutions to challenging problems. Navigating ambiguity is a strong suit, and you deeply value collaboration using the three-legged stool product development model.

What you'll do:
- Design Thinking & Storytelling
- Lead exploration for solving design problems across our family of SaaS products
- Use an expert level understanding of our products and assets, the competitive landscape, and our users in product decision-making
- Participate in interviews with customers to gain new insights and synthesize research into findings for potential product improvements
- Meet with the design team regularly to discuss product design decisions and transform product insights into intuitive, user-friendly application features
- Manage competing priorities and act on decisions in the face of ambiguity
- Design Execution
- Craft efficient user flows, thoughtful wireframes, high-fidelity pixel-perfect designs, prototypes, and pattern documentation leveraging our design system
- Create detailed design specs with all manner of states considered, well-annotated, and ready for handoff to our product development team
- Validate creative ideas through rapid prototyping and user testing
- Identify and proactively tackle future issues before they grow into something even bigger
- Break down complex projects into simple systems that can be effectively designed and maintained by less experienced designers
- Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product tripod members to strategically iterate on and ship new features regularly
- Lead internal conversations with product and engineering about our design direction and synthesize decisions and designs in order to advise teams on execution.
- Proactively think of ways to improve collaboration between stakeholders, design, and engineering.
- Have mastered the art of the stakeholder review; completely own the feedback and design support they require on your projects
- Proactively identify technical and organizational design debt and build consensus on thoughtful solutions.
- Team Citizenship
- Anticipate broad stylistic/technical change and keep us ahead of the curve by evolving our design language, thinking, and systems to stay modern.
- Help develop and refine best practices and methodologies for the design team, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Inspire your fellow designers and are seen as a role model and mentor to every member of the team.
What you should have:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field
- You are a well rounded product designer with at least 10-12+ years professional experience in fully responsive web environments
- Thorough knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and user experience best practices
- Excellent communication
