About the Role:
An opportunity has become available within The Royal Children’s Hospital for a casual Linen Porter within the Support Services Department. Shifts: Day & Afternoon Shift across Weekdays and Weekends.
As a Linen Porter, you will play a crucial role in providing the safe, timely and hygienic supply of linen across the RCH in both clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital. Reporting to Support Services Department, you will ensure that your practices adhere to Infection Control guidelines and the AS/NZS Laundry Practice Standards for Victorian Health Facilities.
Your well-developed written and verbal communication skills combined with your interpersonal skills will provide you with the ability to work within a team environment in varying locations throughout the hospital. Your customer focus attention to detail will enable you to provide a high-level service to patients, families and colleagues.
Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Linen Porter - Casual.
Classification for this position is in accordance with Award 04 - Health and Allied Services. Depending on experience, the successful candidate will be appointed from IN21 (Laundryhand, Grade 1) to IN22 (Laundryhand, Grade 2) , FTE base salary $53,284.4 to $55,648.32 per annum, plus superannuation).

- Knowledge of infection controls principles and procedures
- Well-developed communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proven interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in a hospital setting desirable
- Previous experience in a portering or logistics role desirable
- Ability to adapt to a multifunctional and diverse environment
- Willingness to undertake required training
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to resolve conflict in a professionally
- Capability to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse team
- Physically fit for manual work

About the Department:
Support Services began life back in 2007 growing out of the old Environmental Services Department to become one of the largest single departments in the hospital with over 220 staff.
