Position Overview

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for Plant Training Lead. The person in this role will report to the HR Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting the training function as in terms of operational and organizational successes. This position will also ensure the efficiency of the Employee Development process in the unit, from orientation, to training and assessment, to the creation and the completion of developmental plans. This position is a critical to ensure we improve talent development across Oswego. Ensuring that all employees can develop themselves and have programs that help them feel empowered to grow is critical to maintaining the ongoing operation.

 

This role’s salary starts from $85,000.00 per year. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance. In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Plant Performance incentive - PPI).

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Lead training coordinators within all departments to meet training objectives
  • Responsible for maintaining costs within training budget to ensure maximum efficiency of budgetary funds.
  • Anticipate future training requirements based on future operational and organization needs
  • Responsible for workforce development initiatives to ensure ongoing talent pool of skilled and qualified craftsperson’s
  • Serves as interface to community workforce development including technical development programs with local universities/colleges and businesses
  • P-Tech & AMI/CCC Program Liaison
  • Implement and complete training programs
  • Lead all aspects of the plant Technical training plan with collaboration with NNA and Global resources
  • Auditing and continuous improvement of training program
  • Own hourly recruiting/bidding to include internal bidding process and collaborating with HRBP's for external recruiting
  • Facilitate effective communication within the plant - goals and objectives, training measures, practices and procedures
  • Ensure standardization of training across plant departments
  • Develop and cultivate plant-wide systems for organizational development. This includes direct involvement in all phases of change management, strategic planning, implementation, integration and auditing.
  • Responsible for the administration of the department Skill Based Pay process within the Craft and Technical positions
  • Leading the future CCC Maintenance Tech Program

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or 5 years experience in a training or human resource role
  • Experience in leading others in a sophisticated and fast-paced environment with confirmed results, preferably manufacturing based
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent digital literacy with software application proficiency, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office.
