Medical Transcriptionist

Transcribes, edits, addends (including scanning of outside reports) surgical (gross descriptions/microscopic diagnoses) and clinical reports.  Provides secretarial support to the medical and administration staff.  Channels physician/ hospital staff interaction within the department.  Takes responsibility for clerical activities in the Pathology office.  Responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of patient reports/slide and paraffin block archives.  Greets patients, physicians and other visitors and handles all inquiries. Receives and processes physician / patient requests for additional testing and/or outside consultations including computer accessioning/initial gross description and billing of slides sent in for pathologist review.  Receives and processes requests for legal requests working with Risk Management if required.  Received and processes clinical trial requests.

Required Qualifications: 

• 1 year in Health care related position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2 years of Medical/pathology transcription

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
