The Role: Senior Commercial Specialist Director – Agribusiness

The Location: Houston, NYC, North America remote

The Team:

The Sr Specialist Team Lead - Agribusiness is responsible for the customer experience and revenue growth of S&P Global Commodity Insights (SPGCI) clients and prospects.  The role sits with the Global Sales Specialist Team and reports to the Sr. Director, Americas Specialist Sales. This role requires close co-ordination with the Sales , Marketing , Client Services, Content and Product teams.

The Impact: Agribusiness has significant strategic importance to SPGCI.  Success in this role will help achieve our goal of delivering essential intelligence to satisfy the needs of our Customers. 

Responsibilities:

  • This position will be primarily responsible for achieving net-sales and customer experience targets for Agribusiness in North America.
  • The role will have also have responsibility for the direct management of a group of SPGCI's most Strategic customers, as well as the direct management of a team of Specialists who will have their own portfolio of customers and new-business development goals.

Additional responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify and cultivate a diverse pipeline of opportunities for the Agribusiness Market Data and Insights across all segments of clients in North America.
  • Support relationships with clients at all levels to ensure they utilize our content and obtain the maximum value from their service.
  • Maintain deep Agribusiness product expertise and knowledge.
  • Collect client feedback to be shared with the SPGCI Research, Content and Product Management teams. 
  • Responsibilities also include direct client engagements and leading efforts at SPGCI hosted events.

Understand key customers, coordinate with SPGCI Commercial, Product & Marketing teams

  • Understand the relationship and the information requirements within a complex customer base. Understand the structure and strategy of the SPGCI sales organization, sales channels and sales objectives.
  • Participate in planning and executing account management schedule, detailed action plans, surgery calls. Understand key deliverables. Meet and exceed the assigned net sales goal as well as other customer metrics.
  • Use the insights gained from the market to inform the Product Development and Marketing team activities & strategies, to ensure that SPGCI is delivering optimal solutions for our clients.

Growth of Net Sales and New Business

  • Search for new clients and perform white space analysis with existing clients. 
  • This role will help develop strategies to improve the capability of the broader commercial organization.

Market engagement, Customer Visits, Channel Partner Support, Conferences & Forums

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with our Customers and Channel Partners
  • Travel to client sites for sales and relationship building.  Attend marketing & channel conferences, events, roundtables, workshops and forums. 
  • Support joint initiatives across S&P Global in the Gas & Power and ESG space.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must hold Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years of B2B sales with a track-record of achieving revenue targets, developing new markets and maintaining a high-level of customer satisfaction
  • Passion for energy, commodities and energy transitions 
  • Solution-selling background
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and CRM Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong relationship building with customers, markets and internal stakeholders. Strong verbal and written skills are required to enable effective communications at all levels within the company and with customers.
  • Great Team Player
  • Ability to travel 20-50%+ within the territory

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $200,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and according to expertise.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for a sales commission plan.
