Summary:

The position plays a key part in the recycling and repurposing of textiles, helping divert materials from landfills and supporting our community-based programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Textile Grading: Handle, sort, grade, and bale donated textiles based on established quality standards, identifying items suitable for resale, recycling, or repurposing. 
• Material Handling: Safely handle and move textiles through various grading, sorting, and baling stages.
• Production Quotas: Meet daily and weekly production targets for sorting and grading materials, ensuring efficiency and consistency in the output. Meet other established operational and financial key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Quality Control: Inspect items for damage, stains, or other imperfections, ensuring that textiles are graded based on their condition.
• Safety Compliance: To maintain a safe working environment, follow Goodwill's safety protocols for material handling and the use of equipment. 
• Collaboration: Work closely with team members to maintain workflow, communicate any challenges, and contribute to a positive work environment. 
• Reporting: Accurately record and report data related to the quantity and quality of graded textiles as supervisors require. 

Education and Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or GED preferred. 
• Ability to be trained and take direction.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to distinguish between different grades of textiles. 
• Ability to meet production quotas and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
• Basic understanding of safety protocols for handling textiles and related equipment.  
• Good English communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
