Retail Coordinator
Reports To: Rental & Retail Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Director of Snow Sports
Position Overview
The Retail Coordinator serves as the operational lead for the retail team, taking ownership of sales performance, merchandising execution, staff development, inventory processes, and retail initiatives. The position acts as a key resource for Supervisors by supporting daily decision-making, operational planning, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position collaborates with Rentals leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality operations across the department.
This is a full-time seasonal position running from November through May. During peak periods, including holidays, school group programs, and February/March operations, evening shifts may be required to support business demands.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Retail Operations
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
• Assist guests with product selection, technical gear education, and purchasing decisions.
• Ensure accurate point-of-sale transactions and maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment.
• Communicate promotions and sales initiatives to guests and staff.
• Act as the operational lead when Supervisors are unavailable, making decisions regarding staffing, workflow, and guest service priorities.

Team Leadership & Staff Development
• Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to retail staff.
• Coordinate staff assignments and workflow to maximize operational efficiency.
• Support employee onboarding, training, performance management, and development initiatives.
• Maintain training resources and foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented workplace culture.

Merchandising & Store Presentation
• Lead the execution of visual merchandising strategies and seasonal displays across the retail store, lower chalet display cases, and town store.
• Guide staff in maintaining merchandising standards throughout all retail locations.
• Support on-mountain and in-town pop-up retail events.
• Create and implement seasonal merchandising plans.
• Analyze product placement effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Sales Performance & Retail Development
• Monitor sales performance, product trends, and key performance indicators, communicating insights to leadership.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve guest purchasing behavior, and enhance profitability.
• Develop retail promotions, seasonal sales initiatives, and staff incentive programs.

Inventory Management & Stock Control
• Oversee receiving, organization, and replenishment of merchandise.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking requirements proactively.
• Identify and resolve stock flow, inventory discrepancies, and shrinkage concerns.
• Maintain inventory forecasting reports and recommend replenishment priorities.
• Assist with markdown strategies, seasonal product transitions, and end-of-season inventory management.
• Investigate recurring inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.

Product Sourcing & Retail Development
• Contribute to product selection and purchasing decisions based on guest needs and sales trends.
• Research products and recommend new merchandise opportunities.
• Analyze product performance and customer feedback to improve retail offerings.
• Assist with vendor communication and support product launch initiatives as required.

Department Leadership & Cross-Functional Support
• Collaborate with Coordinators, Supervisors, and Managers to support the overall success of the Rentals and Retail Department.
• Assist in overseeing operations across Rentals, Retail, Town Store, and Tech Shop areas during peak periods or when leadership support is needed.
• Help coordinate staffing, workflow, and service standards across departments.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and problem-solving support to team members throughout the operation.

Qualifications:
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a retail, rental, or service-focused environment.
• Strong customer service and sales skills, including product recommendations and upselling.
• Experience with merchandising, visual presentation, and inventory management.
• Sales analysis and performance improvement experience considered an asset.
• Ski/snowboard product knowledge and/or a Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License considered assets.

• 1–3 years of retail, customer service, or hospitality experience; supervisory experience preferred.
