Summary
The project manager directs, coordinates, or budgets activities concerned with company construction projects. Participates in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversees its organization, scheduling, and implementation while staying on budget.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety First – put safety first and production second. Always.
- Supervise and lead team members, setting clear expectations and goals. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Work with superintendents, foremen, and Construction Managers to plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with all construction projects and discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
- Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
- Monitor and control project through administrative direction of on-site foremen to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Develop and cultivate relationships with new and existing customers and help expand the scope of business to increase revenue and generate a larger customer base for the organization.
- Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Represent the company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
- Work with Program Manager/VPGM to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationships with customers.
- Assign crews to construction sites to work on specified projects.
- Requisition supplies, materials, and sub-contractors as needed to complete a project.
- Liaison between field personnel, sub-contractors, management, and administration to facilitate project activities.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, crew, etc.
- Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs, and scheduling.
- Ensure the highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to routinely bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift 50lbs or more, lift in awkward positions, stand, and twist for extended periods.
- Must be willing to travel out of market/state for up to several weeks at a time (50-70%).
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes DOT physical, background check, and drug/alcohol testing and participate in the random testing program.
