Payroll Clerk

Zachry Group is currently seeking a Payroll Clerk for our Maintenance Site BASF Freeport. No Per Diem is offered. Monday thru Thursday 6:30AM to 5:00PM. Overtime and weekends as needed. 

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of payroll processes required. 
• Distribute, collect, and review timesheets. Verify hours worked, overtime, and leave time.
• Update and maintain accurate employee records.
• Compile payroll summaries and other reports as requested. 
• Strong familiarity with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and payroll/accounting software.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with job site, co-workers, and project management.
• Accounts payable knowledge. For example, matching of invoices, receivers, and purchase orders.
• Reply to assigned queries correctly, efficiently and communicates in a timely manner.
• Complete special projects as required by manager.
• General office skills.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three years related payroll processing experience.
• Strict adherence to ethical standards when handling sensitive financial and personal employee data.
• Solid working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft office products
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using general office equipment and computer programs
• Deadline driven

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. 
• Minimum of three years related payroll processing experience.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
• Adaptable and works well in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in the chemical refining industry
