The Vice President of the Strategic Execution Office (SEO) serves as the enterprise leader responsible for translating organizational strategy into disciplined, measurable execution across UMass Memorial Health Care. This role provides executive oversight, governance and standards-setting of the IT PMO, Strategic PMO (CEO priority initiatives), Organizational Change Management (OCM), Business Relationship Management, enterprise project governance, and demand management processes.

The VP, SEO ensures that all strategic and operational initiatives are aligned to system priorities, appropriately governed, resourced, and executed with rigor. This leader establishes and enforces standardized methodologies, drives transparency in execution, and enables senior leadership decision-making through structured governance and data-driven insights.
This role partners closely with executive leadership, clinical and administrative stakeholders, IT, finance, and operations to ensure the organization delivers on its most critical initiatives. The VP acts as the central integrator of project/program execution across the enterprise, ensuring consistency, governance, and measurable value realization.

I. Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads the enterprise Strategic Execution Office, integrating IT PMO, Strategic PMO, OCM, governance, and intake into a unified execution model.
  • Oversees a portfolio of high-priority, enterprise-wide initiatives aligned to CEO and system strategic goals.
  • Ensures all initiatives have clear business cases, defined outcomes, and measurable value realization metrics.
  • Acts as a senior advisor to executive leadership on execution feasibility, prioritization, and risk mitigation.
  • Provides executive oversight of both IT and Strategic PMOs, ensuring alignment, consistency, and optimal resource utilization.
  • Establishes standardized project and program management methodologies across the enterprise.
  • Ensures effective portfolio management, including prioritization, sequencing, and dependency management.
  • Drives accountability for delivery timelines, budgets, and outcomes across all programs and projects.
  • Helps to design and facilitate enterprise project governance structures, including executive steering committees.
  • Ensures consistent, transparent reporting of project status, risks, and performance to executive leadership.
  • Facilitates executive-level decision-making by synthesizing complex information into actionable insights.
  • Establishes escalation pathways and ensures timely resolution of cross-functional issues.
  • Owns and operates enterprise intake and demand management processes across IT and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures all incoming work is aligned with strategic priorities and organizational capacity.
  • Implements structured prioritization frameworks to optimize resource allocation and value delivery.
  • Leads enterprise OCM strategy to ensure successful adoption of transformational initiatives.
  • Establishes change management standards, tools, and capabilities across the organization.
  • Partners with leadership to drive stakeholder engagement, communication, and adoption strategies.
  • Applies Lean/Six Sigma principles to improve execution effectiveness, reduce waste, and increase delivery speed.
