Department Summary

The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) conducts research, training and community
outreach in the areas of minority health, health disparities and workforce diversity.
Constituting the IHD are the Texas Center for Health Disparities, National Research
Mentoring Network, Texas CEAL Consortium, Diversity Training Programs, AIM-AHEAD and the NIMHD Endowment.

Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst will lead the organization’s financial planning and analysis functions, overseeing the budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario planning processes. The position will report to the Associate Director at the Institute of Health Disparities and will oversee the development and execution of the organization’s annual budget, collaborating with leadership to ensure alignment with strategic goals and effective resource allocation. This role is critical in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization, ensuring alignment between financial goals and strategic priorities. Provides complex financial analysis, reporting and forecasting operations and the evaluation of potential opportunities. Efforts focus strategic financial planning. Responsibilities include the planning. design and execution of various ongoing reports, serving as a technical resource in multiple projects through the identification and/or retrieval of key data elements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of financial and budget forecasting.
  • Proficient in a number of computer applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and a variety of other software applications.
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization to draw relevant conclusions.
  • Experience compiling statistical data and preparing a report.
  • Experience in recommending actions through analysis and studying proposed changes in processes.
  • Experience in budgeting, including research grants budgeting, long-term strategic planning, and resource allocation processes.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships through solid communication and excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software such as Workday, Netsuite, or Salesforce, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
