Senior Pharmacy Technician (519543)

The Team:

At the Department of Health Tasmania, the Senior Pharmacy Technician is part of a dedicated and collaborative pharmacy team committed to delivering high-quality medication management and support services across Correctional Primary Health Services. The team operates within a multidisciplinary environment, working closely with pharmacists, nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

The Role:

Coordinate and supervise pharmacy technicians and assist in the training of staff in the provision of a pharmaceutical service to Correctional Health Services and its clients.  The Senior Technician will work within the guidance and direction of Correctional Health Pharmacists

You will need to:

• Assist with the dispensing of pharmaceuticals, packing dose administration aids, coordination of pharmaceutical stock supply systems, including imprest, and liaison with external pharmaceutical supply organisations.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians, including monitoring unit workflow, stock availability, prioritisation of urgent work, liaison with external pharmacy service providers and Work Health and Safety issues.
• Contribute to the continual development and refinement of operating procedures for the dispensary and other stock management systems in conjunction with the pharmacist.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

• Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Hospital and Community Health Pharmacy Assistance) from a recognised education institution; or
• Possess or be actively enrolled in Certificate III or IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support from a recognised education institution; or
• An Associate Diploma from a recognised educational institution, or an equivalent qualification, that is relevant to the work of a pharmacy technician

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
