As a Data Engineer within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

s a Data Engineer, you play a key role in generating business insights from raw data. This is a great opportunity to learn about the business, markets and products that PNC serves, and sharpen your skills by working on interesting projects with talented team members. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that enables data collection, storage, and processing. You will create data pipelines, manage databases, and ensure data quality, making data accessible and usable for other teams like data scientists and analysts.
Responsibilities
1. Building and Maintaining Data Infrastructure:
Data Pipelines:
Designing and implementing systems to move data from various sources to target systems, often involving ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Data Storage:
Selecting and managing appropriate storage solutions (databases, data warehouses, etc.) for different types of data.
Database Management:
Designing, implementing, and optimizing databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
2. Ensuring Data Quality and Accessibility:
Data Cleansing: Identifying and correcting errors, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies in data.
Data Integration: Combining data from multiple sources into a unified view.
Data Validation: Implementing checks to ensure data meets specific quality standards.
Data Security: Implementing measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulations.
Data Optimization: Improving the performance and efficiency of data systems.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
Working with Data Scientists and Lines of Business users: Collaborating to understand their data needs and ensure data is in a usable format.
Working with Business Analysts: Collaborating to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions.
Communicating with Stakeholders: Explaining data trends and insights to non-technical audiences.
4. Other Responsibilities:
Developing Data Analysis Tools: Creating tools and dashboards to help users explore and understand data.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues with data systems and pipelines.

Job Description

  • Develops, supports and implements data services for multiple applications to meet business objectives and user requirements. Uses technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions.
  • Works closely with users, developers, operations and business partners to define data service requirements and the data preparation process development.
  • Designs and builds data service infrastructure on multiple data platforms, according to key business processes and the overall workflow.
  • Develops and implements data solutions for multiple applications to ensure its scalability, availability and maintainability.
  • Implements data migration and transformation activities/processes to ensure the accuracy and security of data solutions.
