Job Duties
This position supports DOC workforce needs by serving as an administrative expert, change agent, employee champion, strategic partner, positive contributor, and Ambassador of Excellence on the Human Resources team. This new, restricted position plays a vital role in building and maintaining partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and vocational programs to promote career opportunities in corrections. Position is responsible for frequent travel and engagement of stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth working to facilitate engagement opportunities with educational partner and students. Serves as an ambassador to elevate the perception of corrections as a rewarding career pathway. Responsible for developing innovative outreach strategies and serving as a liaison between educational institutions and VADOC stakeholders to attract diverse and qualified candidates for various roles within the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to create and deliver presentations that effectively communicate careers opportunities in corrections, highlighting available opportunities, pathways for advancement and benefits. Advanced proficiency in the usage of a computer, Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, and applicant tracking systems. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all audiences. Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner as well as a contributing member of a collaborative team. Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement recruitment strategies to attract audience/demographics to create pipelines.
Additional Considerations
Certification in Human Resources (e.g., CP, SCP, PHR or SPHR) or as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). Skilled in using PeopleAdmin or PageUp applicant tracking system, PageUp or Cardinal and HuRman; and working knowledge of the Department of Correction’s current compensation plan including pay structures (pay-band/sub-bands). Advanced knowledge of organizational development and career development/advancement programs.
