What will you do? 

A day in the life of a Lead, Facility Maintenance at VF looks a little like this. 

The responsibilities of the Lead Facility Maintenance are to be able to lead the Maintenance Team with directives supporting the Maintenance Manager concerning Production and the Physical property. Ability to direct and oversee that tasks are performed in a workman like manner following industry codes and practices. Be able to perform a variety of duties involved in the repair, adjustment, maintenance, and rebuilding of production equipment by executing sound industry maintenance standards, i.e., Preventative and Predictive Maintenance practices. Ability to give direction, train, and mentor in the rebuilding of Production equipment and Facility maintenance.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more. 

  • Provides leadership within the Maintenance Department by working with the Uvalde Leadership Team
  • Perform routine maintenance in and around the physical property i.e., painting, windows, interior/exterior doors, and internal/external wall repairs.
  • Electrical repair and troubleshooting, knowledge of NFPA 70e.
  • Support and maintain the multiple HVAC systems within the structure by performing Preventative Maintenance, i.e., filter replacement, coil cleaning as needed.
  • Support and abide by company safety program, i.e., wear correct PPE for the task, perform preventative maintenance program to fire extinguishers, and eye wash stations.
  • Identify and bring all safety concerns to his/her supervisor.
  • Grounds keeping of the physical property – Lawn and other outdoor areas that require maintenance. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 4-6 years of experience and professional achievements

The foundation skills you will need in this position are: 

  • Mechanic/Technical school completion - related area preferred or equivalent work experience – Plumbing – Electrical up to 480Volts – Carpentry – Industrial Maintenance
  • Understand Electrical Principles, usage of electrical testing equipment and read schematics
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and understand the escalation process of priorities
  • Must be able to cover for the Maintenance Manager in his absence
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Understand Preventative and Predictive Maintenance industry practices
  • Journeyman knowledge in metalworking and woodworking shop practices and shop math
  • Journeyman knowledge in operating shop equipment and hand tools, i.e., drill press, drills, grinders, wrenches
  • Knowledgeable in welding using, GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, and SMAW/STICK
  • Computer knowledge working with CMMS
