Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Scientist- Water Resources/Environmental Sciences for our Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice in our Natick, MA office. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide technical support on existing projects and business development efforts in the Biological and Ecological Sciences Practice.
You will be responsible for
- Understanding and interpreting water resources, including government regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and production processes
- Conducting analyses and preparing regulatory documents and expert reports
- Performing document review, critical analysis of literature and reports, data management, statistical data analysis, and written communications preparation
- Synthesizing technical information and applying creative and critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentations
- Developing and maintaining professional status by authoring peer-reviewed publications, and participation in technical conferences and activities of professional societies
- Working cooperatively on projects with other members of the Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Ph.D. in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or another related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant applied experience outside of Ph.D. program (examples may include postdoctoral research, environmental consulting, or relevant government experience)
- High degree of knowledge of water resources and farming practices including irrigation practices, pest management, and nutrient management
- Strong understanding of scientific sampling methodologies and the state-of-science on a broad range of terrestrial, wildlife, soil, and water quality issues
- Experience with data analysis and statistics, and graphical presentation of data
- Experience with data management and analysis using Excel, Access, and a programming language (e.g., R or Python)
- Experience managing tasks of moderate scope and complexity
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects and tasks with competing deadlines, and communicate within multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability in written and oral communications
- Strong commitment to personal development
- Not required but any of the following experience would be a plus:
- Understanding of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to agriculture, water quality and related environmental sciences including USDA, ESA, NEPA, and Clean Water Act in the U.S. and similar laws and regulations in other countries
