What’s the role
A Salesforce Engineer must be able to own and deliver work under broad guidelines. They may work in natural teams with members from across divisions in Shell IDT. Working together in teams, they collaborate to achieve delivery of software products/applications while adhering to engineering standards. They must keep abreast of latest technologies/practices in software engineering.
Accountabilities:
Design and build software solutions across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements through development, testing, and deployment, aligned to Shell IDT standards
Own engineering quality and technical assurance, ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, maintainable, and compliant with the IDT control framework.
Apply and uphold engineering standards, patterns, and practices, including source control, CI/CD, automation, and modern software engineering techniques.
Collaborate in “natural teams”, working closely with other engineers, product, and delivery roles to deliver business‑aligned outcomes using Agile ways of working.
Provide technical leadership and community contribution, sharing expertise, adopting industry best practices, and actively participating in the DSE (Digital & Software Engineering) community.
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant Salesforce Certifications
3+ years of corporate IT experience
Understand the core concepts of software engineering, including understanding the requirements, fundamental elements of software design, software construction, developer testing, and configuration management
Familiar with configuration management and have working experience with at least one source control system (GitHub preferred).
Skilled in continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automating these workflows
Familiar with building software for accessibility and skilled in the fundamentals of building a secure application.
Understand Agile ways of working; prior experience with Scrum or Kanban preferred
Demonstrate understanding of work management (Azure DevOps preferred), including logging product backlog items and bugs.
Have understanding of cloud computing and diverse options for hosting applications (MS Azure preferred)
Skilled in working with datastores, understanding schema, security, and privacy
Understanding of containerization, micro‑services, and AI/ML preferred.
Have effective communication skills to put one’s point across clearly.
Able to work collaboratively in teams
Able to plan and execute work largely independently
