Maritime Compliance and Incident Response Team Member

Seniority Level: Compliance/Technical Department Team member

Type: Full-Time, 40 hours / week

Position Summary: Oil spill response and vessel compliance specialist. Work with team members and clients to support client vessels’ day-to-day operations in U.S. waters and world-wide trade, performing regulatory required filings and liaising with vessel Captains and client points of contact as well as a myriad of Federal, State and local officials to support vessel operations, incident response and compliance with the regulations. Responsible for day-to-day administrative duties and supporting operations for regulatory compliance for commercial client vessel fleet(s) including processing electronic Notice of Arrival/Departure and Cargo Manifest filing (ACE/AMS). Respond to oil pollution and vessel casualties on behalf of client as required. Position includes participation in after hour’s duty rotation.

Location: Texas Based. Work remotely

Travel: Primarily home based but travel is required based on assignments

Industry Experience: Pollution response, OPA 90 compliance, ICS experience, USCG Ship Inspections, Maritime transportation (shipping / ports), PSC/Ship

Inspection, Ballast Water Compliance, Incident management experience

Qualifications:

  • Previous Maritime Industry / USCG experience, minimum 5 years’ experience, is preferred; Marine Science Technician with Response experience is highly preferred.

  • Minimum high school diploma

  • Candidates with undergraduate or advanced degree will be attractive; and training or certifications relevant to the maritime sector will be attractive.

  • Functional knowledge of industry standards and best practices.

  • Functional knowledge of various regulatory regime frameworks and models, such as CWA, OPA’90, USCG, EPA VGP, OSHA, Ballast Compliance, ACE/AMS, eNOA, ECA, MARPOL, Annex I-VI, AK, CA, WA State requirements, IMO.

  • Available to work flex schedule, which includes afterhours/weekend duty.

  • Strong attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access).

  • Basic recognition of non-English spellings and alphabets, including the phonetic alphabet

  • Intuitive grasp of web-based software for data entry and tracking

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
