Internal Mobility Business Partner
DownerAbout the role
The Opportunity
Do you thrive on supporting others through times of change and growth? In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of empowering employees to navigate career transitions, unlock new opportunities, and realise their potential within Downer Energy & Utilities and beyond. You’ll champion fair and equitable processes, challenge mindsets and biases, and ensure every redeployment decision is made with care and in strict adherence to legislative requirements. If you’re driven by making a genuine difference and believe in the power of internal mobility to transform careers and lives, this is your chance to have real impact.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the go-to expert for redeployment, guiding employees through career transitions and supporting leaders to unlock internal opportunities. Your work will directly impact retention, engagement, and the future of our workforce.
Key Strategic Accountabilities:
- Guide and support employees through redeployment and career transition, ensuring compliance and care at every step.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis and assessments to determine both role and employee suitability, identifying skill gaps and opportunities for development to facilitate successful internal transitions.
- Support the Internal Mobility Manager ANZ in implementing mobility strategies and frameworks.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with People & Culture, leaders, and employees seeking a change or redeployment, working together to identify and unlock meaningful internal opportunities across the business.
- Use data-driven insights to shape mobility strategies and report on outcomes.
What We Offer
- An awesome team culture. We value each other’s perspectives, celebrate improvements and successes, and balance autonomy with genuine collaboration.
- Enjoy fair and transparent remuneration that reflects your skills and contributions, alongside a range of employee benefits and support.
- Benefit from a flexible hybrid working model (mix of WFH and office), with adaptable start and finish times focused on outcomes—not hours. We support you in balancing work and life, trusting you to deliver your best wherever you are.
- Be part of an evolving business at the forefront of a critical industry, embracing change, innovation, and continuous improvement as we deliver essential services and infrastructure that keep communities running and thriving.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is passionate about supporting others, thinks strategically, and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. You’ll bring empathy, tenacity, and a commitment to fairness and compliance.
Other Key Competencies & Experience Required:
- 3+ years’ experience in Talent Acquisition, Internal Mobility, People & Culture or Workforce Planning.
- Sound understanding of business obligations and legal requirements relating to redundancy and redeployment processes (advantageous but not essential for success).
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for employee experience and diversity & inclusion.
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence by understanding and responding to the needs and concerns of others, while having the courage to challenge bias and outdated mindsets.
- Demonstrate advanced critical thinking by analysing complex situations, evaluating options objectively, and making informed decisions that support both employee outcomes and business objectives.
