Position Summary
The Network Engineer builds and maintains the internal infrastructure systems at ISC2. The incumbent will join an in-flight effort to optimize on-premises and cloud footprint to provide maximum reliability and consistency throughout the network. Automating the environment is key to reducing tasks, improving productivity, and accelerating processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, build upon, and implement the global infrastructure footprint with a key focus on automation.
- Be security conscious. Guard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems at ISC2.
- Administer and configure enterprise networking equipment, including switches, firewall, and routers.
- Work with the Security Team to securely configure the infrastructure network, firewall, switches, routers, and other tools as required.
- Maintain and update current security and infrastructure documentation, networking maps, system diagrams, and topologies.
- Provide end-user and internal application, network, and system troubleshooting as needed
- Work independently under limited supervision.
- Tune system parameters and configurations to optimize performance using industry best practices.
- Provide input on capacity planning to reduce costs without impacting service quality.
- Document processes, systems, solutions, and topologies within the infrastructure areas of responsibility.
- Stay informed of changes to technology and recommend new products or approaches as needed.
- Monitor and maintain network performance, ensuring uptime and reliability for LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and resolution of network connectivity issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers as needed.
- Configure and install network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, under supervision. - Assist in the setup, maintenance, and documentation of network configurations and topologies.
- Respond to service tickets and provide timely support to end-users and internal teams.
- Conduct routine network maintenance tasks, such as patch management, backups, and firmware updates.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support network security measures, including firewall rules and access controls.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and incident reports.
- Stay updated on basic networking technologies and best practices to support ongoing professional development.
- Perform miscellaneous duties, as assigned.
