MEDSURG PATIENT CARE TECH - FULL TIME NIGHTS

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides patient care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.  Assists patient with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents. 

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

·       High school graduate or GED preferred.

·       Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program OR be listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry. May be certified as a medic or Combat Lifesaver (through military duty) or have EMS certification as a base provider.

·       Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.  New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.

·       Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

·       High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.

·       Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills required.

·       Must work effectively as a member of a team.

·       Previous acute or long-term care experience preferred.

·       Technical and critical thinking skills required to perform duties.

·       Basic computer knowledge.
