Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Department: Riley Referral Services

Position Summary:

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Senior Specialist plays a key role in facilitating consultations, referrals, admissions, and appointments for physicians and consumers seeking access to IU Health services.

This position supports patient transfer calls, referral admissions, and critical care transport coordination. It also serves as a primary point of contact for physician referrals and appointment scheduling through various access points. The Senior Specialist collaborates with marketing partners to fulfill organizational marketing activities and registers patients for screenings and wellness classes.

This is a remote position and may require flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate access to IU Health services for physicians and consumers.

  • Coordinate patient transfers, referrals, and critical care transport.

  • Schedule appointments and pre-register patients using electronic healthcare systems (EMR).

  • Communicate effectively with clinic staff via EMR and telephone.

  • Provide immediate access and resolution for patients contacting referral services.

  • Support the Primary Care Same Day Campaign and Telehealth partnerships.

  • Serve as a liaison for marketing fulfillment activities.

  • Register participants for wellness classes and screenings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience required.

    • Prior experience in the medical field is required.

  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to interact professionally with patients, families, physicians, administrators, and clinical staff.

    • Proficiency in using EMR systems and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
