Job Summary
This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus
The Manager of Patient Safety will have primary oversight of the facility-wide patient safety program. This leadership role will direct others within the facility towards process improvements to support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. This practitioner provides leadership for safety assessments, coordinates the activities of the patient safety function or committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based cause for medical errors, consults with management and staff, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the
organization. This role collaborates with executive leadership, medical staff, quality leaders, risk management, and clinical operations to foster a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce preventable harm, and drive continuous performance improvement. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a patient care related field.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or J.D. from an accredited college or university in a healthcare
related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of combined experience in clinical practice and progressive healthcare
leadership experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years of experience in Patient Safety, Quality, Risk Management, or healthcare
operations
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: CPPS Certification or eligible to take the exam within one year of
employment
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Associate in Risk Management or Certified Professional in
Healthcare Risk Management desirable. License in a clinical discipline.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
• Strong leadership, project management, and change management skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with facility and department leadership, physicians, and staff
• Expertise in corrective action planning, and patient safety risk mitigation.
