Summary:

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our Financial Reporting and Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong business background, university-level accounting coursework, and relevant professional experience in business management or accounting. This is a hybrid role with a flexible schedule based in Northern Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in advancing their accounting career and pursuing a professional accounting degree or certification.

What You Will Do:

• Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Support the preparation of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.
• Provide administrative and organizational support to financial reporting, labor, and other accounting teams.
• Assist with audits, compliance, and other special projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills; professional, clear and well-spoken.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Requirements

• Completion of university-level accounting coursework
• Work experience in business management or accounting-related functions.
• Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
• High degree of initiative and willingness to work extended hours during busy periods.
• Interest in pursuing a formal accounting degree, CPA or related certification.
