Job Description

The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is charged with the creation and oversight of programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, and promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety and well-being of New York City families and children. The Division is comprised of the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and Bureau of Administration. The Office of School Health is a joint program of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and the Department of Health and Menta Hygiene (DOHMH) responsible for designing, providing, and evaluating clinical and public health services and programs in NYC public schools for over one million NYC students. The Office of School Health (OSH) is a joint program of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) responsible for promoting the health of over 1.3 million school children enrolled in approximately 1,800 public and non-public schools in New York City. Services to students include case management of chronic health problems, preventative health screening, urgent care, medication administration, preventative counseling, health education, referral for care and assurance of ongoing effective treatment.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for metric tracking and working with program leadership to adjust practices when needed to achieve program goals and taking the lead in program reporting for bi-annual accountability meetings.
- Lead and support OSH policy work, including policy analysis, response to relevant bills and legislation, support for policy proposals submitted by OSH program directors, and advancing prioritized policy agenda for OSH. Provide general analytic support for the Assistant Commissioner of OSH and for fiscal and programmatic evaluation and prepare analysis and documents for agency finance and operations leadership.
- Lend expertise and guidance to Programs by supporting quality assurance protocols and procedures to measure program impact.
- Lead and coordinate strategic planning for OSH, setting annual goals and metrics ensuring alignment with both NYCPS and DOHMH goals and priorities.
- Review and revise grant applications and liaise with DFCH and the Fund for Public Health on proposals for program support.
- Provide management oversight including the supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Commissioner and Special Projects coordinator.
- Serve as an advisor to the Assistant Commissioner and represent the Assistant Commissioner in internal and external meetings.
- Other related duties as directed by the Assistant Commissioner.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience in program management, initiating and managing complex projects involving multiple partners.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict management resolution skills
- Experience in the development and implementation of quality assurance and program evaluation.
