BU/Segment: Insurance
Location: Dublin, Republic of Ireland (Flexible hybrid working)
Employment Type: Permanent
Summary of the role:
EXL is establishing a new engineering pod in Ireland to accelerate development of our Intelligent Premium Audit Platform. We are seeking a highly capable Product Owner to lead product execution for this pod and serve as a strategic partner to the Senior Platform Owner. This role blends high-ownership product leadership with platform-level thinking. The Product Owner will internalize platform vision, translate it into a clear roadmap for the pod, and independently drive delivery of complex, high-impact features across global teams. In addition, this role will manage the pod’s Business Analyst(s) and act as their primary coach, mentor, and performance manager.
This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, analytical, and able to operate with minimal oversight while staying tightly aligned with leadership and long-term strategy.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
• Product Strategy Execution
o Partner with the Senior Platform Owner to translate high-level platform vision into actionable roadmaps for the Ireland pod.
o Develop quarterly and annual plans for the pod, ensuring alignment with business priorities and operational needs.
o Identify opportunities and gaps across the audit workflow, document validation process, auditor experience, and customer-facing elements.
o Participate in roadmap discussions, provide data-driven recommendations, and help build consensus with global stakeholders.
• Feature Definition & Delivery Leadership
o Own end-to-end delivery for all features assigned to the Ireland pod—from ideation, refinement, and prioritization through release and operational adoption.
o Lead backlog management and ensure stories are well-defined, testable, and aligned with UX and quality expectations.
o Work closely with developers, QA automation engineers, architects, and BAs to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with platform constraints.
o Maintain strong standards for acceptance criteria, readiness, and delivery discipline.
o Ensure delivered features achieve measurable business value and provide exceptional user experience.
• Platform Alignment & Strategic Stewardship
o Champion platform consistency by ensuring pod-level designs align with the broader architecture, standards, and long-term modernization strategy.
o Anticipate cross-team dependencies and coordinate proactively with India teams, Architects, AI Engineering, and Ops.
o Participate in multi-year planning discussions and advocate for product enhancements, technical improvements, and AI-enabled capabilities.
Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:
• Bachelor’s degree required (Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field).
• 8+ years in progressive product ownership, business analysis, or software development leadership roles.
• Experience working with AI-enabled systems or complex automation projects is a plus.
• Certifications such as CSPO, PMP, or Agile leadership credentials are beneficial
Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:
• Experience leading cross-functional Agile teams with globally distributed members.
• Strong preference for experience in P&C insurance, Premium Audit, underwriting, inspection, or related workflow-intensive domains.
• Proven ability to take high-level vision and independently turn it into structured, actionable delivery plans.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.<
