Overview
Summary/Objective
The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing support to the Controller’s Office activities. In this role, the Staff Accountant will assist in monthly closing activities, perform some analytical procedures to explain the results, and provide assistance for ad-hoc projects on as needed basis. The Staff Accountant will be expected to participate in the Controllership-level projects and process improvement intiatives that will increase efficiencies and promote healthier financial results.

- Assist in monthly closing activities such as journal entries recording/or preparation.
- Perform variance explanations as needed.
- Apply financial, accounting & control policies for consistent practice/application of GAAP across the company
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Participate in the audit finding remediations
- Identify opportunities to promote a better control environment
- Interpret and present accounting guidance changes to peers and upper management
- Perform peer review analysis
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or on track to complete
- CPA designation or on track to complete
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical aptitude
- Must be a highly motivated team player with a winning attitude.
- Must like working in a progressive environment where immediacy and focus on problem recognition and resolution is appreciated.
- Must appreciate and thrive in an agile environment where changes happen quickly
- Must be a self-motivator while actively participating in a team environment
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.
Travel
Up to 10% travel is expected for this position.
