In this role, your expertise in API enablement, data mapping, SQL, and data transfer formats like XML and JSON will be essential for ensuring feature rich systems and seamless integrations. Your deep understanding of IT processes and tools will help drive risk mitigation, opportunity identification, and the delivery of high-value solutions.
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Analyze existing systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Create technical diagrams (sequence, context, etc.) based on business workflows and data flows using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Contribute to the design of new systems and features, ensuring alignment with business objectives and architectural principles.
- Make system configuration changes to support insurance product updates and enhancements.
- Assist with technical triage of application issues identified by end-users or system monitors.
- Assist in API contract definition.
- Assist with API partner onboarding, triage of issues, and support.
- Develop a strong understanding of data structures and relationships.
- Create data mapping specifications and technical user stories.
- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation and technical training materials.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Occasionally required to work late evening and weekends as needed.
- Up to 10% travel as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, other related field or equivalent work experience, including military experience
Certification
- Insurance certifications or affiliation with industry group a plus
- Guidewire Policy Center certification(s) a plus
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or a similar role.
Skillset
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, practices, and processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
- Experience defining and interacting with APIs using tools like postman or openAPI.
- Experience writing SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
