Position Overview
The Finance & Accounting team located at the Oswego, NY facility is seeking a Sr. Accountant. This role will report to the Controller for the Oswego plant and have one direct report. This candidate will be responsible for overseeing several accounting functions for the plant and working cross-functionally with both plant-based teams and corporate Accounting and FP&A.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of Staff Accountant. Including training, performance management and growth & development.
- Performing month-end activities such as reviewing & approving journal entries in SAP and approving balance sheet reconciliations in OneStream.
- Ownership and oversight of annual activities such as updating standard costs and overhead cost allocations in SAP.
- Sustaining CapEx including budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis, facilitating meetings with engineering and plant leadership, reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Ownership of Fixed Assets & CWIP including capitalizations, disposal, fixed asset verifications and quarterly reporting.
- Completing various government reports/surveys, internal & external audit requests and R&D tax credit calculations.
- Analyze and report on inventory variances and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.
- GR/IR Management
- Regular review of purchase price variances, intercompany variances, Aluminum Situation reporting and in-transit transactions.
- Perform regular deep-dive analyses into production related cost variances to help management identify losses and target areas of improvement.
- Support World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities by participating in cross-functional business projects and gain a comprehensive knowledge of the operational cost drivers to better support project initiatives.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel is a must.
- Experience with fixed asset and/or inventory management.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to think independently, synthesize data and make proactive, concise recommendations based on findings. Thrives on ability to work autonomously.
- Creative and innovative team player with a positive approach and a focus on business issues.
- Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with plant leadership and regional office personnel.
- Willingness to take on additional projects and multi-task with changing priorities, as necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines with emphasis on sustained accuracy and attention to detail.

- Experience with Hyperion.
- Manufacturing experience.
