Summary:
This position provides direct clinical and customer service to the Student Health Center medical provider staff. The Registered Nurse operates under the clinical supervision of the Associate Medical Director. This position contributes to the efficient patient flow by triaging and treating ill patients, specimen collection, facilitation of clinic paperwork, and medically related tasks in a primary care outpatient student health center.
Essential Functions:
1.) Clinical Functions
Triage all incoming patients for medical providers including obtaining vital signs (as needed) and POC testing if indicated.
Assess and evaluate patient needs and assist with prioritization of patient care to maintain patient flow and keep medical providers on schedule.
Under the supervision of the Medical Director or Associate Medical Director, perform venipuncture, EKGs, and administer medication/ immunization injections in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures.
Provide wound care and suture removal.
Patient education to support clinical care.
Documentation of patient visits in EMR.
2.) Administrative Functions
Maintain records for clinic processes including but not limited to all incoming and outgoing lab test and results; refrigerator/freezer daily temperature logs; monthly clinic expiration/operation checks (including checking for expired testing products in medical providers’ exam rooms, AED operation, and Lab Dispensary medications; Oxygen tank operation).
Assist in maintenance of supply inventory and ordering via LabCorp.
Ensure Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) are up-to-date per CDC.gov website.
Ensure medication information sheets are kept up to date.
Assist Administrative Associate Director in maintenance of supply inventory.
Assist clinical, nursing and administrative staff in preparation of accreditation surveys and standards.
Support infection control nurse in implementation of infection control procedures.
Assist in development of allergy desensitization program alongside Medical Director, Associate Medical Director and Lead RN.
Support Tuberculosis Screening program, alongside Associate Administrative director and Lead RN.
Assist in development of nursing protocols and procedures as needed.
Assist in approval process for immunization records.
3.) Other Functions
Perform similar incidental duties as assigned by supervisor.

Salary Range:
$44.00 per hour.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
35-40 hours per week.
This is a 10 month position (off during June and July).
