HybridJoin Collins Aerospace as an Embedded Software Engineer to support the GPS Receivers product lines. In this role, you will be developing real time embedded software and employ sound software development processes.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
What YOU will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C/C++ and Java for systems and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency.
- Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in C/C++ and Java technologies, especially in relation to complex systems.
- Support product line discipline sustainability efforts.

Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Must have or be capable of obtaining/maintaining an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or higher. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience developing embedded software utilizing C, C++, Ada or related languages
- Experience investigating, trouble-shooting and fixing software issues
- Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, Static Code Analysis using Coverity or equivalent, Unit Test using VectorCast or equivalent, Test-Driven Methodologies and DO-178
- Experience developing, and integrating real time embedded software
- Knowledge of GPS software architecture including cryptographic, system integrity and security domains separation, area navigation, and GPS ICDs is a Plus
