Purpose

~ Lead and coordinate the activities of the ACEN (Audio/Communications/ Entertainment/Navigation) and Body Electrical engineering groups. (Includes New Model and Current Model Quality Assurance Responsibility).

Major Responsibilities

~ Primary responsibility of department is to lead ACEN (Audio/Communications/ Entertainment/Navigation) and Body Electrical engineering groups activities.

~Ensure that Hyundai and Genesis brands continue their respective segments leadership in vehicle quality as measured by Syndicated/Internal Customer Surveys, Media/Dealer Reviews and Warranty Performance. Responsibilities include cross functional coordination with HMC units including R&D, Quality, North America Quality Center (NAQC) and Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI). Also involves coordination within the Customer Satisfaction teams and other HMA groups such as Sales, D&I, Product Planning, Parts, etc. Activities include identifying and investigating field technical conditions and reporting to the appropriate organizations in the US and/or Korea to support countermeasure development and lead the in-market countermeasure implementation.  

~ Responsible for leading, prioritizing and integrate all activities of the group’s System Engineers in charge of reviewing and validating repair procedures/special tools, product complaints, recovery and analysis of warranty parts, analysis of Field Data (survey, Techline, FSE, other), reporting of any existing systematic product problems and the development of countermeasures for (a) field repairs and (b) production in coordination with HMC. Manage the timely distribution of all related Technical Service Bulletins, Campaigns and Recalls.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ Support the Model Line Engineering group in specialized vehicle preparation for HMA Public Relations media events for new car introductions, as well as other Public Relations and Marketing events. This role requires technical evaluation of Hyundai & Genesis (preproduction and production) and competitive vehicles for extended periods.

~ Manage a staff; effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff’s time, materials and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company. Lead the development of all associated staff for the purpose of improved technical and problem-solving capability, career development and work group morale.
~ Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Authority

~ Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.

~ Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.

~ Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.

~ Responsible for Group’s Budget and justification for both Hyundai and Genesis support

~ Coach and provide career development advice to staff.

~ Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.

~ Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, and back-up for absent employees.

~ Final approval for assigned cost centers budget expenditures.

~ Final approval for personnel expense reports.

~ Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.

Education

~ Must be a high school graduate~ Bachelor’s degree required.~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Ten or more years of experience of which at least eight years are directly related experience in OEM service.

~ Three to five years of technical supervisory experience required.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.

~ Strong data management/general and statistical analysis/reporting.

~Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access MS Office.

~ Strong written and oral communication skills.

~ Strong analytical/problem solving ability.

~Working knowledge of GD&T, dimensional management/tolerance stacks

~ Individual must be well organized yet flexible to accomplish objectives tha
