ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

Member of technical staff in high temperature materials and corrosion in the Material and Catalysis Capability of  ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company (EMTEC)-Research.

What you will do

 

 

  • The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive background in high-temperature materials, including metals, ceramics, composites, and/or coatings. A strong understanding of phase stability, microstructure-property relationships, and microstructural characterization is required
  • The candidate should be proficient in using modeling and experimental tools to address complex material science challenges. They should be willing and capable of acquiring specialized skills necessary for developing or selecting novel high-temperature materials for developing technology solutions related to the energy transition
  • The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to cross-functional teams and demonstrate technical leadership in their core area. They should build productive collaborations internally across various functions and businesses, as well as with strategic external partners (e.g., academia, national labs and other industry partners). Additionally, the candidate should be able to assess and accelerate the pace of technology development and deployment.

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications 

 

  • A Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering or a related field 
  • Capable of operating independently in the laboratory while also having the ability to work with others from a variety of backgrounds in a team environment
  • A track record of external publications and presentations, and a desire to continue to interact with the external technical community 

 

Preferred Qualification

 

  • Post-graduate research experience of 8 years or higher in academia, research labs or industry is preferred 
  • Applied experience with carburization and hydrogen attack is highly preferred. Familiarity with material fabrication and corrosion protection techniques is a valuable addition to the core expertise.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
