Speechwriter

Overview

FWI is building a team to provide expert strategic communications support services to the Defense Health Agency Research & Development - Medical Research and Development Command. As a Speechwriter, you will provide executive-level communications expertise in developing speeches, talking points, and presentations for command leadership, supporting military, industry, and academic engagements that showcase DHA R&D-MRDC's global medical research mission.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

 

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities

 

• Develop story ideas and approaches with writer/editor team
• Interview subject matter experts and write plain-language articles
• Write and edit in AP style and web style with OPSEC understanding
• Rapidly research topics and write talking points/speeches for executive leadership
• Support events including:
  • Industry and academic events (City of Frederick, GEMS graduations, SMART PROC conference)
  • Military events (AUSA, MHSRS, Military Medicine Partnership Days)
• Create PowerPoint slide-sets for presentations
• Attend speaking engagements to understand presentation styles
• Attend calendar reviews to ensure event coverage and awareness

 

Qualifications

Required: 

• Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience
• Strong research and writing abilities
• Experience with executive-level communications
• PowerPoint proficiency
• Ability to adapt writing style to speaker preferences
