Facility and Automation Maintenance Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Seeking a Facility and Automation Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, performance, and repair of facility infrastructure and automated systems within a high-volume operations environment. This role is responsible for ensuring all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), material handling equipment, and automated/unloading systems function safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will also lead a team of maintenance technicians and coordinate with external partners to maintain operational excellence and uptime across all facility assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Oversee the maintenance and performance of all major building systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
· Supervise maintenance and repair activities related to powered industrial vehicles (e.g., electric forklifts and pallet jacks) and other material handling systems.
· Manage and maintain automated unloading equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
· Develop and execute a proactive preventive maintenance plan for all critical systems and equipment.
· Provide leadership and technical guidance to maintenance staff, enhancing team capabilities and equipment knowledge.
· Respond to and resolve maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
· Oversee contractor and vendor relationships, ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to budget.
· Support the creation and management of the department’s maintenance budget, monitoring expenses and cost-saving opportunities.
· Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory and company safety standards.
· Monitor facility energy usage and implement efficiency improvements where possible.
· Maintain accurate logs and records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance requirements.
· Maintenance Technician-Specific Duties
· Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, VFDs, photoelectric devices, and servo systems.
· Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems including motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, rollers, bearings, and belts.
· Perform inspection and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic equipment including diverters, lubricators, coils, hoses, cylinders, and pumps.
· Weld components such as conveyor supports and handrails as required.
· Conduct preventive maintenance on plant equipment, conveyors, bulk carts, and powered equipment.
· Reassemble machinery after repair and conduct test runs to ensure functionality.
· Dismantle equipment using proper tools and hoists for maintenance.
· Record and maintain repair and maintenance logs and documentation.
· Collaborate with other departments and personnel for efficient repair and upkeep of machinery.
· Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines and parts using appropriate tools and materials.
· Maintain inventory of parts and tools and request supplies as needed.
Reassembling machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work
· Start machines and see mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
· Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors or repair needs.
· Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
· Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
· Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
· Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
· Read work orders and specifications to decide machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
· Set up and run machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
· Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
· Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
· Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
· Collect and discard worn machine parts to maintain machinery and work areas.
· Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
CMMS RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and manage the site’s CMMS platform for asset and maintenance tracking.
